Helgemo & Liou Pediatrics is pleased to announce the addition of Kristy Carey, ARNP to our compassionate and highly skilled team of providers! As a Nurse Practitioner, Kristy diagnoses illness, conducts exams, and prescribes medications and performs in-office procedures. “I’ve always been drawn to kids. I love interacting with kids and the dynamic they bring,” says Kristy. “I have little kids myself, so I can easily relate to the fears and concerns of the parents, as well.” Since childhood, Kristy has always be interested in medicine. However, after undergoing surgery at age 14, she knew it was her passion and calling. “I saw and experienced firsthand the difference that doctors and nurses make in patients’ lives,” she says. “I experienced how much their care and compassion helped me and my family during that time. I knew without a shadow of a doubt that I wanted to be a part of that.” Helgemo & Liou Pediatrics is familiar territory for Kristy. Her children have been patients here for years. “I’ve always loved the environment here — professional, but never stuffy,” she explains. “I’m thrilled at the opportunity to get to work with the wonderful doctors, staff and patients.” Prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner, Kristy worked as an oncology nurse at Fawcett Hospital. She received her Bachelor of Nursing from the University of South Florida and her Master of Science in Nursing at Chamberlain College of Nursing in Chicago. She lives in Port Charlotte — where she was born and raised — with her husband, Steve, and their three children.
